THESE ARE NO ORDINARY LAMBS…..THESE ARE MERINO CROSS LAMBS!!
All our lambs have been bred with their fibre in mind. They have not been bred as fat lambs so as a result are not enormous!! Our lambs are all grass reared so have plenty of growing left to do.
They have had both of their Heptavac injections plus have clikzin on them and have received Farmsense maxigro and nutrimax plus wormer when necessary. These lambs will make lovely breeding ewes in a years time and the wethers will make fantastic fibre sheep and very pretty lawnmowers. They are very friendly and used to dogs walking among them and have been well handled and are used to being caught up.
As these lambs grow their wool will start to show the amazing qualities of both the ewes and our Saxon merino tup. The mums of these lambs have lovely wool which comes in all shades from black through to mottled grey and also white which is sort after by spinners, felters and crafters alike. Their mums are a mix of jacob x texel / suffolk mule, pure greyface Dartmoor and greyface Dartmoor x suffolk mule. With the addition of Murray our merino tup these lambs fleeces are going to be amazing. Saxon merino fleeces have a staple length of approximately 2.5 – 4” and a fibre diameter of approximately 15 to 19 microns. Saxon merino wool takes dye well and is well known for being highly crimped, soft and fine making it a lovely wool for shawls etc.
